What is the official position on that? If you are in state waters does that states CCW permit apply or is it up to the coast guard??

I don't know for sure but I think every state has it's own rules. I know that's true as to possession in a vehicle. You don't need a CCW to legally be able to have a weapon in your car in FL. You do need one to carry a concealed weapon on your person.

In some states, as long as the weapon is NOT concealed, it can be carried on your person.

Rules on water? Don't know. But I adhere to adage..Rather be judged by 9 than carried by 6.

Absolutely!

I was thinking more along the lines of handguns, I have been thinking about the mossberg mariner for a little while now.
Question is where to put it on the boat.
