    Launching and Picking Up Alone

Just in case it's not obvious to everyone, you get much better control of your boat if you use dock line that is long enough to go from the bow cleat to the stern cleat . Make sure the line is connected to stern cleat on the side facing the wind and or current. Using this method you avoid...

    Rod Holder on 1801

I have them on both sides of my console and don't think I could fish without them. One tip, when you mount them add a spacer on the bottom bolts to keep the rod holders vertical. The side of the console slants in slightly and without the spacer , your rod tips will lean toward the gunwale. That...

Motor Up or Down in Storage

Which is the best way to position the motor on my 1801 Parker during longer term storage on the trailer ? I was keeping in the down position but was advised to store it up , locked and the trip pistons retracted when I had the boat winterized. Do you have a strong preference one way or the...

    Alaskan Parkers

I was in Alaska last week and was amazed at the number of Parker boats I saw . By far not the most common boat up there but considering the distance from North Carolina, Parker was very well represented. Most were various forms of 25 with cabin. Got to be a great boat to pay the delivery cost...

I want a Parker - is the 1801 for me?

I currently own an 1801 CC with F115 and love it. I fish mostly the Chesapeake Bay. It works great there anytime the wind is less that about 12kts. Above that it become very wet --but still fishable. Have also fished it out Harkers Island in the ocean with no problem. I previously owned a...

    Gas Venting

Noticed yesterday that my Parker has a very small drip of gas coming out of the vent. Enough to make a streak down the side of the boat and a small stain on the driveway. Other than the obvious of not filling the tank , is there another "fix" to prevent this? I opened the fill cap and let...

    Replacing Notched Transom Scuppers

If yours are the round flapper type , you can get them at TriState Marine . They are about $12 for all 4.

ideas on adding rod storage on 1801

I have an 1801CC Parker . I purchased 4 extra rod holders like the ones that come standard for under gunwale rod storage. By removing the two on each side that came with the boat and pushing them so the "feet " of each rod holder touch the next, you can get 4 (vs 2) on each side. That will give...

    Installing Speakers

Nice speaker installation for stereo. I want to install good external speaker for my VHF. I have a cheap, small external speaker now that I got at West Marine but its JUNK!! Can I use a good stereo type speaker and hook it to my VHF ? . My concern is that the radio does not put out enough power...

    New member - 1801 question

I have owned a an 1801 for the last 4 years. My experience is that the boat can handle a lot more chop that I can. I have never felt unsafe in my 1801 Parker ---BUT I have been uncomfortable a lot of times. I have been caught out in 20+kt wind and by taking it easy on the throttle returned...

Lightning Protection Scheme for the DIY'r ... ??

I am no electrical or lightning expert--in fact I don't understand it at all--but what do you accomplish with the chain and sash weight that you don't already have with your metal motor in the water. Would seem to me that the motor grounds everything connected to it .

    rod racks 2510 wa

I made a similar installation on my 1801CC 5 years ago. Use mahogany strips, 2 ton epoxy and masking tape to hold it to the hull until it setup. Has worked perfectly for 5 years. So---think you are on the right track. Might consider some other type of wood that will be more marine environment...

    Sea Anchor?

I use a sea anchor a lot on my 1801CC. It slows the drift and by changing the position you tie off the anchor you can control how the boat drifts. I find it especially useful to tie the drift anchor off mid ship so the boat will drift perpendicular to the current when conditions permit. This...
