I could not agree more. There are very few things I don’t like about my 1801. But every time I sit on that helm seat for a long ride it drives me nuts.
I have a 1994 1800 and it came standard with the box/flip backrest. I hated it as it was too low. I swapped it last year and added trim tabs. I have a 115 and use it with myself and my wife and 2 daughters around Beufort,NC. No planing issues and the tabs are wonderful. Here are a few photos...
My 1994 Parker 18 has sliding “plastic” doors at the helm to access a small shelf. I keep my VHF radio down there and my wallet, etc.

I am in Morehead but just use a 2WD Acura MDX. Never had any issues pulling my Parker 18. I only have to tow it 2 or 3 miles to the ramp and back but the ramp itself is the only “slope” and it’s never been an issue.
This sounds like the best option. I have experience with epoxy and I will definitely take this approach. Not the fastest, but patience pays off in the end.

So I am going to be removing the original cooler style leaning post and installing a proper leaning post on my 19994 Parker 18.
My question is what size /length screw should I use to mount it? Same as what I remove from the original cooler style? Or should I use these toggle style? I am not...
Quick question on the mounting of your leaning post. I have the old flip style cooler and I am going to replace it this winter. I can’t find the stringer layout but did you just use larger screws (2”) and use the same spacing as the old cooler? I don’t have a good feel fore how‘where the gas...
