    For Sale: Garmin GPS/FF Combo

I'm offering up a Garmin 168 GPS/Fish Finder combo unit with internal antenna. It has served me well but is being replaced with new gear this season. It works perfectly, the screen is scratch free and it doesn't fog up. It was removed from the boat every trip and still looks good. You can read...

I'm getting new riggers so the "starter" set I assembled last season while I was trying to decide if I liked trolling is up for grabs. The bases are Taco Striker 1 1/8" models as described HERE They were installed in July of last season and are in mint condition. I was really happy with...

    Regular Vs. Premium Gas $$$

Dale's statement is perfectally correct. But in the case of pistons and internal combustion engines, temperature and pressure go hand in hand. High octane fuels were designed to accomidate the compression generated by modern motors. Under pressure, the ignition temperature of low octane...

Excellent Tred Barta Show on Ditching

I agree with you Dale. Let me rephrase: In some rescue situations, if you have a throw bag and all you can do is get close, you may still be able to execute an effective rescue. There is no substitute for good boat handling skills in a rescue situation, or any situation OTW for that matter...

Excellent Tred Barta Show on Ditching

Yup. It sucks, and my boat isn't even that big. If you have a throw bag on board all you need to do is get close: There is a very flexible high test line inside the weighted bag. One stands on the bitter end and throws the bag. It is easy to get 70' of line out with an underhand fling.

I find it more interesting that Icom has released the M504: Is the larger screen on the 504 in response to the Uniden model?

    Uniden UM525 VHF Radio?????

Does anyone have real world experience with the Uniden UM525 VHF radio? Powerboat Reports (which I tend to take with a grain of salt) gives the radio a "best buy" rating but doesn't bother to comment on durability or ergonomics. Word on the street is that this is the first product...

    Battery Choices

For about $120 you can put the one/two/both argument to rest for good. As a plus you don't have to worry if it is an odd or even day. A battery managment cluster with a voltage sensative relay like the one that I use from http://www.bepmarine.com/: will insure that your starting...

    Roller Trailer Support Strategies

Tim- Are you saying one of the strakes is resting on one (or some) roller(s)? The strakes are probally the thickest and therefor the strongest part of your hull but the problem is one of surface area. Instead of the load being distributed over the whole contact area of the roller it is focused...
