I recently bought a 2007 2320 SL with a bracket and have been working on it taking care of some deferred maintenance and also rigging it the way I want it. The transom livewell on this thing is huge but really doesn't provide a lot of use for fishing up in norcal (salmon, halibut, sharks) other than to use it as a temporary bleed bucket. Any ideas on turning it into usable space?

I’ve been struggling with that same question for awhile on my 2006 2320 and here’s what I recently came up with. Built an insert that fits into the center of the transom box that I’m using for a bleed/ice down box. The outer two sections I’ll continue to use for storage of dock bumpers, ropes, etc. There’s a drain on my insert that I plumbed into one of the existing drains. After bleeding and initial icing/cleaning the fish go into the Yeti.

I like that. What did you make the insert out of? How did you plumb it so that the stuff you put in the side compartments don't break your plumbing?

Thanks,
Mike

Home Depot or Lowe’s sells sheets (2’ x 4’ x 3/16”) of veneer made from birch I believe. It can be cut with a straight edge and razor knife.

I first removed the lid from the center compartment then cut and laid the panels in place, and used strips of gorilla tape to hold it together. When I got the fit I liked, I carefully removed the insert then glassed the joints with cloth, and ultimately gave the whole thing a resin coating. I glassed in a slip x threaded PVC coupling for the drain and ran a hose with a barbed elbow to the existing drain.

On the side compartment that has the drain I continue to use the basket that it came with and the drain tube runs under it.

There is no water in. For now I have to dump water in using a bucket.

Very nice.
I wonder if it can be insulated to hold ice?

I thought about double-walling it with some insulation in between, which wouldn’t be hard, but decided not to because the entire transom box is already insulated, and I intend to use this mainly as a bleed box.
