Mod-V or deep-V hull? OB bracket or no bracket?

If 2 lifting stakes as looking down from the boa, she's a deep-V. Deep-Vs take more power to plane than mod-Vs, but there are things to do or check.

1) Do you have the right prop? Find out the maximum RPM rating of that motor and make sure the prop it wears is ideally no more than 200 RPMs less than that. I'd have 1/2-tank fuel, 2 people, and the gear normally carried on board the boat on board.

2) Contact Ken at www.propgods.com and get a PowerTech OFS 4-blade SS prop fpr that boat.

3) Maximum fuel efficiency will be at 3800 to 4200 RPMs on that motor. Your WOT test for RPMs is ONLY to ensure you have the right pitch prop.

4) Check the height of the motor, the cav/vent plate should be at the surface

5) Clean the running bottom

6) Strip the hull of excess un-needed weight

7 Install trim tabs if you don't have them, using ones no less than 24" wide

8) Trim the motor up so the lower unit isn't below the hull at headway speeds, as you can get a 30% increase in fuel efficiency

9) Do an internet search or search here on CP for the terms 'Dunk' and 'decarb' and perform a decarb on that motor using Seafoam

10) Replace/check the plugs, maybe even a sync&link, as that motor might be a candidate for a tune up
