Fiberglass transom cracking - is this a do it yourself?

Stand on the cavitation plate of your OB and bounce up and down. If you see that gap in the transom flexing badly, I would replace the transom. Otherwise fill with epoxy/resin. Grind and cap the gap off with glass reinforced resin.

2510 Stainless Draw Latches on helm-console

I had a 2510 (1999) that had some cool hardware holding the helm console shut. They were a sort of rotary, draw-tight latch. Does anybody know who make them or where you can find them ? Thanks ! Phil

    FOR SALE - 2002 Yamaha 250 0X66

You can strap the motor down to a pallet and ship it common carrier. Is it a 25 or 30 inch shaft? If it came off the transom its 30. I may be interested if its a 25. I had a 99 with that motor. I sold it used back in 2007. GLWS

Thanks Dale. It is the factory wiring which served several pumps for years of service when I used the boat far more. The wiring is very heavy. PHil

    washdown/baitwell pump

I've been through 6 pumps in the past 2 seasons. Both diaphragm and centrifugal. Mostly I use the pump intermittently to keep macs, herring, lobster alive. In some cases the pumps don't last more than 1 month before they fail to operate. I'm using $200.00 pumps not the cheapest on the...

I had that issue a few years ago. It was a difficult-to-see clog in the vent. I updated to the new style vent. Solved !

    Crack on top of transom

I would caution against using silicone sealant on the transom. Silicone is a nice, soft water proof filler, but it has limited adhesion and no structural effect. If I were simply filling the space I would use thickened epoxy. I have a 99 with a big DF 250 on the transom and there are no...

Where to install swivel rod holders ?

You will find that having only two will be frustrating when the balloons begin to "walk" around. 6 is ideal, with two on the stern.
