There is a few reason I put it on port side.
1. I have the other chirp airmar b150m thru hull 12 degree transducer on back order suppose to be here first week in June so I had to leave a spot open.
2. I new the length of the wire would reach my chartplotter which has the lss2 modem built in that allows me to run chirp and structure scan at the same time so if I put it on the port side it would be the farthest away from the unit and sonar hub that I install in the electric box. I don't know the length of the chirp wire.
3. The other side has a pad made for the bilge and I figure the structure scan could fit in that pad so I wouldnt have to make my own. I also used a ziplock container to do so for the port side. I believe the bilge pad with one hole cut could accommodate the chirp thru hull transducer and mount the bilge and float around it hopefully and yes I know it's a wood pad which I might rethink.

Either that or I'll make another pad which isn't a big deal but I believe I covered all my options
As to having a successful install on the chirp when I get it

Completed top with the rails, radar pedastol, rocket launchers etc. also I get the swim platform back today with the powder coat and nonskid on it. I can't wait to see it. Pictures coming soon

Not the best pictures but I'll take more of the install tomorrow. Looks great

Looks good to me, but I hope you have a big backing plate under that radar arch, because the base appears to be a little small for the load being placed on it.

Sure looks like a lot of stress on that 5 X 5 plate. Most have a much larger footprint. The sharp corners aka 90's will tend to dig in.
That is why I talked about radiused corners before also.

They can't cuz its a beveled top they don't suck down enough to reach the corners to dig in. Just slightly above and filled with sealant. The thing doesn't move but I see ur point. It's strong as hell and the whole boat moves when I grab it on the end.

I would tripod the back on that rig.

That was my thought also.
Me too ... add a tripod.

As is, I've already broken off the Capt's chair post off the base and floor. I don't see that mount lasting and there's a reason why most towers and superstructures are aluminum and not SS ... SS cannot stand up to the shaking and torque. It is so 'tough' it is actually brittle and kills itself from stress fatigue. Seriously, add a safety line to prevent the whole shebang from falling overboard ... you may need it ...

Well did u like anything I do dale or only like to point out the flaws that u think won't work. There has to be something u liked. Look over the boat after I post the pics. pic one thing u like a two things u don't and I'll change them. Maybe I'll even show u some wood work if ur nice. Like my custom made spearguns.

Thanks megabyte I thought the guy did a great job and can't wait to get the motors that I know dale and warthog will disapprove but to each there own I guess. Thanks for the support megabyte. Oh by the way 250 and 25 etec

You've done many things extremely well, like your glass work and helm modifications. But if you're looking for me to stroke you on each and every element well executed ... well, you got the wrong guy. I don't have that time for you or any other person on this board.

However, if/when I see something of concern that I feel should be pointed out, I sure don't hesitate to express my concern and opinion. I've saved many people lots of time, grief and expense and get over a dozen personal emails and/or PMs (average each week of the boating season) helping people outfit their craft.

I applaud your efforts and your rebuild. Your execution is well done! But when 2 or 3 of us seasoned boaters and owners address a 'design' concern, well - you might want to give it some thought. I'm sorry you take offense to that ...
