2003 2300CC with Yamaha F300.
Moved batteries to console and increased size to group 31's
Installed Rev 4 prop
Installed 18" tabs on Lenco actuators (not relocated)
All three of these mods made a difference. Together with the repower from the F225 to the F300, it is a completely different and...
Group 31 way overkill? That is like saying an F300 is way overkill when an F250 will work just fine. Or why install a 155 gal fuel tank when a 120 gal tank will work just as well?
These are all just personal preferences.
I kind of like that word, Overkill.
Lots of benefits, the only downside is...
Ii would suggest group 31 batteries over 27. More cranking amps and reserve. They are commercial so plates are anchored in epoxy. Only slightly larger dimension but check battery trays for fit. New trays are not terribly expensive. Good hold downs are most important.
Yes, had tabs fabed with a bit heavier gauge and attached to original Lenco
Yes, had new plates fabbed from heavier gauge and attached to original Lenco actuators. Did the mod 3 or 4 years ago, they work great and holding up well.
Running same Yamaha F300 on Armstrong behind my 2003 2300DV with forward seating. Same prop and same mounting height.
When I rigged the F300 and rewired boat, I moved 2 group 31 batteries and switches to center console. The boat was no longer bow light and was transformed. Also put 12x18 tab...
Thanks for replies,
My concern is the effect on prop performance or loss of? Garmin specifically states "On single-drive boats, the transducer must not be mounted in the path of the propeller. The transducer can cause cavitation that can degrade the performance of the boat and damage the...
Does anyone have first hand experience with the Garmin GT51M thru hull transducer mounted on the center keel pad with no fairing block in front of a single outboard on a bracket? This location would be about 5 ft ahead of the prop and these new transducers seem pretty low profile without a...
I had the opposite experience with the Rev-4 17P on my 23DVCC. Improved hole shot and reduced porpoising. The biggest improvement was the lighter weight F300 (replaced F225). Eliminated any porpoising with no tabs required on flat water. Still using the same Rev 4 prop.
While running the F225...
