    Bottom paint

Any advise on what kind of bottom paint to use on the Armstrong bracket? We store in the water for the season and the bottom is painted with an ablative paint. But the anti fouling paint on the bottom of the bracket is pretty well shot. Same for the trim tabs. What say the group?

    Flipped doors

My wife asked what we should do on Father's Day so we went down to the boat and did boat chores! Actually, it was so darn foggy that we couldn't see to get out of the slip. After installing four spring hatch holders on the fish boxes on the transom we turned to something that has been bugging...

    Drain to bilge?

Hello All! Cool Change is back in the water and in her slip in Rockland. The wife and I spent several hours today cleaning a winters worth of storage barn dirt and grunge. By lunch time she (the boat, not the wife :D ) was looking pretty darn respectable! Cindy was cleaning and rinsing the...

    Springtime in Maine!

The sun popped out this afternoon and the temp was actually over 60°, but not by much. But more importantly, the boat yard got Cool Change out of the barn this week. She has fresh bottom paint, the hull is buffed and waxed. The PermaTrim is installed and the motor has been raised two holes on...

    Which hole?

Hi Guys! I was looking at some photos the other day, thinking about the work list I gave the marina in Maine. One item is to raise the motor. My photo shows that the Yammi 250 4-stroke is mounted all the way down. My question is this: for those of you who have a 2520 and 250 Yammi on a...

    Permatrim

Seeing the picture of Shawnee's transom with a glimpse of his motor reminded me that I needed to ask a question about adding a Permatrim. My boat is hiding from the snow in a barn up in Maine. It's a 2520XL with a 250hp 4-stroke on a bracket. The local Yammi dealer has serviced and winterized...

    Engine flush

Three month and we will back on Maine. Last summer kept our Parker on mooring, but this summer we will be keeping it in a marina slip. Im looking forward to being able to do chores like wash the boat. But perhaps the most important thing...being able to flush the engine (250hp Yammi) with fresh...

    Looking for radar

Thinking of boating in Maine this summer. I have a Lowrance HDS10 plotter and want to add a 3G or 4G radar. Anybody have one to sell? Hoping to find a fairly new take-off from somebody wanting to upgrade.

    Size matters!

How big is your anchor? My theory is that when your friends start to chuckle because your anchor is too big, it's just about right. I have a Danforth on our 2520 XL and I want to switch to a Delta. Reviewing the Delta site leads me to believe that a #14 Delta would probably be adequate. However...

    Cockpit awning

My wife and I are already dreaming of being back in Maine aboard our Parker. We want to make some kind of awning to provide shade when we are at anchor. Not interested in being able to use it when we are running so a Bimini top isn't really what we want. I'm thinking about a Sunbrella awning...

    Merry Christmas!

Flying in the face of current political correctness, I refuse to wish everyone Happy Holidays. Rather, I wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of our Parker friends a very Merry Christmas! And to our friends of the Jewish faith, Happy Hanukkah!

    Remove my chartplotter?

Well, the time has come to haul the boat for the winter. I'm a Florida boy and don't know much about winter. I looked at the manual for my Lowrance HDS10 and it says the lowest operating temp is 5* F. Well I'm guessing that here in Maine that will easily be broken so I called Lowrance tech...

    Downrigger

I'm not a fisherman so I'm going to sell the Cannon Magnum 10 downrigger that was on my boat when I bought it. It is complete with the mounting plate and ball. In addition to the two rod holders that are mounted on the downrigger, there are two swivel rod holders. Also, I have a 30"x12"...

    Getting out of the hole

I've had the opportunity to run our new-to-us 2520XL a half dozen times now. I've been trying different power, trim and tab settings, slowly learning the best speed for a comfortable ride in different conditions. My question is this...how do you start out. I've been starting with the motor...

    Windshield wipers

The wipers on our new-to-us 2520XL were total crap. I have a history with wipers...all bad. On our trawler I ripped the darn things off and keep the window treated with Rain-X. But that windshield is 12' off the water and thankfully, we don't get much spray up there. But the Parker is a...
