After six great seasons of running my beloved Parker 23 SE, the Hate to Wait, I have decided to sell it. I plan to purchase a much smaller and lighter boat that I can keep at home under the deck. The boat, motor, and equipment are all in very good condition. I bought the 2001 Parker as a one-year-old boat in January 2002. Since I have owned it, the boat has been kept on a lift during the season and on blocks at Tri-State Marine during the winter. It never has had bottom paint. All winterization and servicing have been done by Tri-State.
The motor is a 2001 Yamaha 200-hp HPDI. It has been an excellent motor. It has never failed to start and runs smoothly with plenty of power. I get 3 miles per gallon averaged over a whole season. That is not bad for a 2750-lb hull. I know that most boat owners today want 4-stroke engines. I think 4-strokes are great too. However, I encourage you not to overlook the HPDIs. My engine gets gas mileage similar to a 4-stroke, is almost as quiet at speeds above idle, and probably has better acceleration. It also put less weight on the transom. I have kept records of engine running time for every trip over six years. The annual total engine hours range from 63 to 91, with an average of 80 hours/year.
