Anyone familiar with this motor and if so have amy opinions of comments???
I've been told it's 240 hp and from what I was told on THT it has been discontinued.
I'm looking at a 28 downeast with one that has very low hours.
I'm also looking at a few more of the same boat, a few with the very popular 315hp , and one with a 3126 Cat.
But I like the sound on burning 5 - 6 gph cruising @ 20 with the 4cyl, though the 315 does 7-8 also.
Thanks

Ron:

Can't offer any first hand advice. Everybody (non OB) in this area seems to be repowering with the Yanmar 315. I even think the new large Spectre CC has a couple of them in it. Very popular motor in FL. Are there cold wx issues with diesels?

I have a 2006 240HP Yanmar (4LHA-STZP) in my Parker 2530. This engine has as good a reputation as its 6 cylinder big-brother.

I would be a little skeptical on a 28' lobster boat doing 20kts at 5-6gph. I think it would be more like 18kts@6gph and 20kts@7gph.
