Are the pole mounts on the side for rod storage?

If they are, were they meant for trout rods? If not, I can't even fit a brush handle through it. Wth is it for? Can't even fit a 6ft rod through it.

yes that's the spot. I can see how a gaff can fit but that's about all it's good for.

Hi Cheapie, here's a 'hack' that can make them more usable; in essence, I cut the openings to fit the item I'm trying to store there. Although the video does not mention this, I use the holders on the Starboard side to store a gaff, and an extra boat hook.
Also, A short video; (I know my videos are very 'rudimentary'; just hoping they help a little...

Damn it Andy, everytime you respond to my post I end up having another want to do project.

I like your fish marker idea too. We usually have an 8 or 10 oz weight tied to a bottle when we fish on a small dingy.

On the baby Parker’s, ( 2120 ) , I find the factory aluminum under gunwale holders useless. I removed mine, added a standard 2 rod holder on each side.
Port side holds my fish cleaning board ( gut and gill board ) since the raw water wash is on the port side, starboard side hold gaff and boat hook

No holes drilled, I screwed 1/2 starboard into the holes that held on the OEM holders, then the 2 rod holders screws into the starboard.

Easy trick to line up with the factory holes, cut the head off of some nails, stick the nails into the factory holes with the nails stick slightly out of the holes, line the starboard up on the gunwale support where you want it, tap it down and the nails that stick out will make the starboard where you need to drill the holes. Perfect fit every time!
