Autopilot hydraulic fitting sealant?

Question for you autopilot experts. I’m installing a second hand Raymarine smartpilot on my 2320. Off of hydraulic pump I have a tee that my lines connect to. On the bottom of the tee where is connects to the pump it has 1/4” NPT threads. What is a good quality sealant for these threads. I’ve heard it’s not recommended to use Teflon tape. Any help is appreciated.

Do NOT use Teflon tape.

Any auto parts store has this stuff. Use it for fuel fittings also.
