Broken Front Window

I need to replace my front window due to my buddy’s brick head banging into it and cracking the glass. They are the Wynne windows and I was wondering if it’s ok to just remove the long pin from the hinge. The customer service rep at Wynne said he has heard of that being done but wasn’t sure it was a good option. I am hoping to just remove the pin, take the framed window to an auto glass shop and have them cut and install new glass. Should I be considering a different method? Thanks in advance.
