One of these days I’m going to re-do the entire panel with something that has back lit labels I can see without my readers On. In the dark I am always flipping on the wipers when I want the cockpit step lights and so on.

Same ! I rewired my panel and I still turn on pumps instead of lights.

Well let’s see... given that basic IP networking became common place in small offices in around 1995 but still hasn’t been fully adopted by marine electronics in 2020, I’d say we’re looking at about 20 years before that is true. :)
