Creating storage space

I have a 1988 23 SE. The below deck space between the two center stringers and aft of the bulkhead that forms the built in fuel tank space, is a large unused potential storage area that is about 27" wide by 48" long and about 18" deep. Has anyone added a hatch in the deck in order to be able to use this space for storage?

Did you search the site and or look in the Projects forum? This site is very well organized unlike Facebook deck of cards postings.
