Ecoboost and 2320

Hey guys. My dad and I have recently started looking at getting a new 2320. I’m sure this question has been asked before but what are your thoughts on hauling it with a 3.5 ecoboost? The distance between the house and marina is less than 20 miles on flat ground.

If the truck has a tow package and the trailer has decent brakes you will be just fine. (Check the GCVW on the truck to be sure!)

I tow my 23 DVCC with a Toyota Tundra and it pulls and stops the boat just fine. I do 400 mile trips several times each year and my shortest tow is about 35 miles. I do have electric over hydraulic actuated disk brakes on the trailer and those provide plenty of stopping power.

Thanks for the info. I was curious if other people pulled the 23 with a half ton. We would never make any long trips with the boat on trailer so I’d imagine it would be fine

I have an Expedition with the 3.5 ecoboost and the heavy duty tow package and have used it to tow my 2530 several times 30+ miles. The ecoboost engine seems to not really mind too much. I don't think there would be any problems with the 2320. With the old 2120 on the expedition it was no big deal, you know the 2530 is back there though and getting it moving takes more effort. If the weight rating of the truck supports it I think you are fine.

I had the same setup - F150 Ecoboost and a 2320. No problems ever.

I have done a good bit of towing. I traded in my Duramax 3500 for the ecoboost f-150. I was towing a Ranger Tug 27 with the 3500. I had a friend that towed his 27 Ranger with the eco boost and another friend that tows his Rossborough with the eco boost. The f-150 is the Lariat. There are two tow packages, with one you can pull 11,000 pounds and the other is 14,000 pounds. I went with the 11,000 pound and have the 2520 parker. I plan on short distance towing. If I was going long distance I would have gone with the 14,000 package. You can never have too much capacity. I have not yet towed my Parker. Both of my friends do slow down a bit going up larger inclines, but can still hold speed at 55 mph.

No problem for F150 3.5 Ecoboost, I towed 110 miles round trip all the time last year and couple time with full tank of gas on boat and truck.

How did the truck do on a steep ramp?

I use to launch on a steep ramp all the time. It's not a problem at all.

Now.....When your backing down.....You have to go VERY slow and stop the rig short of the water a couple of times....The weight of that boat can drag the truck. IE: slide the tires..... [about a foot] It's not a problem. Just something to be aware of.

I tow my 2310 with a 2wd 2006 Silverado half ton. I definitely know the boat is back there but it's fine. Trailer has electric brakes. Upgraded Truck tires, 4.10 gears

I have a 2014 F150 with the 5.0 liter V8. I added airbags to offset the sag cause I have a lot of tongue weight on my 2520. The total weight with trailer is 9300lbs and 1/2 tank of fuel in boat. All the specs I looked up say my truck is only rated to tow at 8000lbs with the axle ratio I have. It tows fine and has enough horsepower to pull it but my concern is that I'm overloading the max towing capacity of that model.
Does anyone have more specs on a 2014 F150? I have the optional 36 gallon fuel tank so I assume it was outfitted for towing.

The placard on your drivers door jamb should have the all the weight limits for your specific vehicle.

Towing my 10000lb travel trailer with my F250 in the mountains or my Parker in Florida with my F150 I always kept the tow capacity and load capacity at 2/3 of the truck rated capacity.

I do the same 2/3 limit, that buffer feels very good to me on the highway. I have the same truck as warthog but a 2016. If I were to go over 7k lbs I would have a F-250.
