I have an old Lowrance 3G radar I put on when I first got the boat. The one piece of advice I have is to get out there in the clear weather, daylight to play with the radar and learn what it is reading. Don't wait until it is a dark, foggy night and you're working your way back to the dock. Don't ask how I learned this lesson.

I love my radar but don't use it often. In the Chesapeake bay area I use it to find fish nets before they find me.

Thanks Steve. Yes, that’s definitely the plan. I do a lot of boating on rivers and bays, lots of crab traps, unmarked buoys and other fun.
