Excited to learn from you all. Sold my skipjack last week. Purchased this this week. Anyone else running a Parker with a Volvo AD 41 Diesel?

Welcome aboard Classic Parker!

Well, you certainly came to the RIGHT place! Pull up a chair and imbibe on the beverage of your choice and you'll be reading about projects and upgrades for hours! Diesel Parkers are indeed a rare bird, so I think we'll be learning from YOU!

I for one, would LOVE to know performance specs on that puppy. Nice rig!

Thank you, I need props, the ones that came with it were dragged out of the launch ramp before I purchased :( .

I posted in the Wanted section for either A4's or A5's.

Im told 20-25 knots cruising at 3000 RPMs is expected.

By the way... is this boat a deep V or Mod V?

If I contact Parker do they have records available based on the hull #?

Thanks in advance!

Look at the bottom of th hull. 1 lifting strake = mod-V and 2 = deep-V.

Yes, all Parker with your HIN.

Oh, we need fuel burn numbers please :D !

Its a Deep V by looking at the bottom like Dale said ...
DUH  ... Yeah, but I didn't even look at his pictures - DOH  !

Like your boat! I've got a 93 2520 dv with an inboard Mercuiser 260 hp. Jealous of the Deisel! Did some pricing on Diesels for if I ever repower, little too pricey. 30 k buys a lot of gasoline! I'm also curious to learn actual fuel vs. speed / rpm numbers. Also, the skipjack is a great boat, similar boat to the Parker, why the switch?

why the switch?

Had a 24 open with a 350. Hoped for 2 mpg, got wet when seas were rough and tight fit for my crew (4-5 guys). This boat will do 3 mpg, keep us dry and has plenty of room to fish 4-5.

Excited to start taking it out!

By the way... What will be different with my boat being a DV vs. MV?

Congratulations!
As Dale said, diesel 2520 DV's are indeed rare... and certainly a 'Classic Parker' because they are no longer produced. :D

Extra karma points for including photos. 8)
Enjoy!

Thank you!

Now, as soon as I can track down a set of A4 or A5 props I will get to start using it.

no problem, but I wont be able to until next week.

Just wondering if you could post a pix of the cowling? I'm interested to see how much space it takes up.
Typical I/O configuration is with the motor up against the transom bulkhead.

I, for one, would prefer the engine mounted amidships in the cockpit, with the drive connected to the prop or drive unit via a jack shaft. This frees up the cockpit and allows the engine hatch to serve as a work, play, or dining table, or a place to sleep with an adequate cushion. Plus it allows you full access to the perimeter of the cockpit.

#1 advantage is all the weight is centrally located and that would be THE best riding hull option one could ever have on ANY boat!! Disadvantage is the alignment of the jackshaft and bearings, of course, as well as different motors are installed with the flywheel aft or forward, which can add some complexity to the transmission.

FWIW Parker also made straight inboards with a small tunnel drive, akin to the old Penn-Yan hulls.

I just put some funds down on a 1990 with the Volvo diesel , while it is a duoprop i wish it was a keel style drive ..... needs a little tlc but the power plant is tight and lots of electronics, all the TLC is minor cosmetics but with 3 younger kids i figured this was a better fit than a CC , i bought from a buddy who had the boat since new so at least i can beat him up for assistance with everything , yours looks sweet with the tower .... best of luck ....
