My boat ( '89 25 SportCabin) collects water in the forward bilge and it doesn't drain out when on plane as some have mentioned.
I want to install a forward bilge pump, the hand pump or the drill pump gets tedious. I've pumped up to 5 gallons out after a week of heavy rain and not tending to it.
I have a spare 800 GPH Rule with a switch but not sure where to put it, seems like the V-berth floor drain is at about the lowest spot.
The plan is to cut a hole for a 8" deck plate and locate the pump under there. The hose would run thru the vberth storage locker and exit midway up the hull.
Has anyone done this project? Any advice or concerns?
Could someone supply some pics of the factory install I could use as a guide?
Thanks,
Steve

I don't believe the cabin sole is the lowest point. On my 2002 2510, there is an inspection plate (somewhere in the cabin...don't remember...don't have a picture...and the boat is elsewhere) that leads to my forward pump. The pump is down closer to the keel. The keel on my boat is about 12" lower than the cabin sole.

Need to get some pics from someone who has an older 25 SC. Might want to poke Kevin, our Purveyor of Pumps.

BTW, if you have any light questions, Kevin is also our Lord of Lights.

Thanks dave,
On mine there is no inspection plate in the cabin floor or the Vberth floor, only a drain hole in each.
I think Kevin is also the King of the Clean Bilge !!!

Steve,

Here's a Ferret's Eye View of the forward bilge pump OEM setup on my 2000 MVSC

We've kicked this forward bilge pump issue around quite a bit here.. At least a half-dozen of us have been chasing that elusive "two gallon phantom puddle" up in our forward bilge. Lots of theories, lots of detective work.

Try a quick search on Bilge Pump and you'll find lots of pictures and projects.....

Here's just a few.
