I have a new e-tec 225 on a 89 25SC 11 degree deadrise
I average 2.5 mpg at 28 mph and 4700RPM
Top speed is 38mph at 5600 RPM
4 blade prop
total weight is approx. 6000lbs
What are other owners getting
I though I read someone was getting over 3MPG with a 25SC

That is a 14-degree mod-V hull.

OB may be mounted too deep. You should be 3mpg around 4200 RPMs.

Wrong prop, sounds like a 6K maximun RPM motor and if so, you want it to be able to reach NO LESS THAN 5800 RPMs at WOT. Even if you NEVER cruise there (you should on every trip back in, if even for a few minutes ...) that is where you test and check that the boat wears the correct pitch prop.

Then check your depth of the OB, see the post in the Power forum on checking the height.

Your most efficient mpg should be around 4000 to 4200 RPMs. I'm very surprised you don't see at, closer to or better than 3mpg at cruise. Which tells me your setup is not optimal at best, or setup wrong at worst ...

I have a 99 2520 SCMV I think its the 14 degree dead rise. I have a 2003 F225. I am not able to get past 1.9mpg cruising about 26mph. I also don't feel like I get fully onto plan until I hit 4900rpm. My change in mpg from cruise to full throttle is .2mpg. My full throttle RPM is 6000 and I can get going 35-38mph with only two people. When I get a chance I think I am going to try to raise my motor up a notch and see if that helps. I thought that with the MV hull the 225 would be pretty economical, but that is not the case since I bought it. Oh I also have the motor mounted on a notch transom witch is different than the performance review from Yamaha. I would be very happy with the number in that review.

No one, no one EVER achieves the mpg values published by Yamaha ...

LOL and LMAO :)

I get 2.5 inside....[Bay & ICW] 2.0 in the Gulf LOADED. [4200 = 25MPH] The Loaded part is VERY important for comparison numbers. Full of fuel [150gal] Ice and fishing gear and crew. Statically sitting full of fuel I weigh in at 7600lbs.

Top speed 42.6MPH.

Zoommmmmmmmmmmmm!

Oh God, if I ever started believing ANYTHING I ever read on THT ... then I'd be in a Bayliner or Angler boat as THE best boat out there ;)

Here we go again...Chevy, Ford, Dodge. If you like it they are all great motors separated by $10-$20 per fill up.

A 225 is not enough motor for that 25SE.i had a 225 on my 1991 25SEand burned fuel like crazy because you had to run it so hard.
I now have df300 on it and it makes a world of difference.i get over 3mpg most of the time running at 4300 at 32mph.The boat performs much better with more hp.

I have a 3.3 225 on my 23se. I get 3.8 mpg at cruise.
