I have had one since 1999 they are great machines very easy to operate and user friendly. I never had one problem with mine.

I have owned 4 of them. Never a problem. A great unit. I now have a 10in. navnet which operates much like the 1850. One of the best units they ever made IMO

ive got that unit. youre right, the full keyboard is really nice. the disadvantages are a somewhat slow redraw (not a huge problem, but slightly inconvenient) and slow feedback; takes awhile for the course line to catch up with the actual heading of the boat after a turn. generally, if im running a long distance, ill steer by compass. waypoint names are also annoying as they restrict you to 6 characters. but in terms of reliability, never a hiccup. good, solid unit. but you knew that when you saw "Furuno" printed next to the picture. :wink:
