Furuno NavNet VX1 to NobelTec

So I am helping a friend with electronics on his boat. He has a Furuno NavNet VX1 with NMEA 0183. We want to connect it to a laptop which will be running Admiral 11 navigation software (among other things). Nobeltec makes a NMEA to USB cable for this application, however it is NMEA 2000, not 0183. Any ideas if it will work?

If it cant work, any suggestions?

I would call them and check if it is backward compatible
