I had a 498 on my last boat so I ordered another one because it fit nicley in budget. It did not come with a transducer so I had to order separately.

I ordered a 010-10192-01 transducer because it featured 200/50, speed and temp. It has 12/45 degree cones respectfully.
When it arrived I was shocked at the size of the transducer!!!

It is at least 3 or 4 times the size of the old one I had on my old boat.

compared to: 010-10106-00 which is 200 only with a 20 degree cone.

Has anyone installed the 010-10192-01? Does it have exceptional quality or something? Is that the reason for its size? If its just a great transducer I will put it in.....

Whats your opinion of what transducer to use - (I stay in the bay)

Thanks - Bill

Man, that 01 is a moose. I once had the 00 on my boat.

You may want to check the airmar website and see if you can find the specs on the two models. I don't think Garmin makes it's own ducers. I think airmar builds them for the Garmin brand.

Bill, Give Jim Maier a call over at BOE Marine in Eastport. He is a high volume Garmin dealer and can answer any question you might have about any of their products. 866-735-5926

TOL is correct. Furuno also uses Airmar 'ducers with the Furuno name on them. I would bet money that Garmin does too.
