I was talking to our marina's mechanic today about the new ethanol gas issues and he mentioned making sure the o-ring on the gas cap is in good shape to assure no water gets into the tank, etc.. Well, I bought the boat new and it never had an o-ring on it. What about you guys? Does the gas cap have an o-ring on it?

Wow, I must have gotten ripped off! What the heck happened to my o-ring? 7 seasons without one and no problems....I wonder if I can buy a replacement or do I need to purchase a whole new cap?

Just put a locking cap on yesterday, Had to enlarge the hole in the gunnel about 1/8 of an inch. With gas getting close to $4 a gal. and a 250 gal. capacity,[not that Im about to fill it] , we are talking about serious money.
I've checked Perko's website, (I am pretty sure it's a Perko on my boat) but I do not see just the o-ring for sale.

Why not take the cap to a hardware store and match o-ring?
The nearest hardware store that might have o-rings has to be 20+ miles away. I'm wondering why it never came with one, I bought the boat new and havent had any water in 7 seasons....
