Where I live on Long Island Sound in CT it is a tad rocky, to say the least. I'd like to fish in as close as possible to the shore, and so I'm thinking of adding a Jackplate to the transom of my 1990 '25. This should allow me to troll in close, and have some control over the distance between the tops of the rocks and the bottom of my lower unit It will also give me ten inches of set-back.
Has anybody done anything similar? The boat, which I just bought, was owned by an older couple the entire time, and barely used. The transom is solid as a rock, so I'm not worried about anything structural.
Any thoughts would be welcomed.
Thanks
