Sounds like she is equipped with both thermal imaging and FLIR, if you can believe the article.

Nice! 8)

And does 50mph while setting up for a torpedo drop.

Where is the bow mounted 50 cal.??

Actually... on stateside patrol boats, that would be an M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW).
It is a 5.56x45 mm NATO chambered weapon.

That is very interesting choice of calibers for turret gun. Figure if I was trying to stop a boat on the run an M60 7.62x51mm would be the minimum. The 50 BMG would be even better.

I do admit though, the 5.65x45 or 223 does work great on varmints! LMAO

That is incorrect.

The USCG does not use the M249. The weapon mounted on the bow of the 25ft RBS Safeboat is the FN M240 chambered in 7.62 (.308) same as the M60 that it replaced.

Just my 2 cents.

^^ he's right. ive got friends in the USCG and they confirmed that its an M240

Makes more sense.
I kinda thought the 5.56 round was a little light for that task.

Edit:
It appears that both the M240 and the M249 are made by Fabrique Nationale d'Herstal (FN Herstal) which also owns U.S. Repeating Arms Company (Winchester) and Browning Arms Company.
