New trolling motor install and battery box.

Thinking of building a step up platform in the bow of my 1988 25' Sou'westr for batteries for my 36 volt Garmin trolling motor . Any suggestion would be appreciated. Also wondering if I will need a wedge
under mounting bracket to keep motor straight up and down as the bow deck turns up a bit on this model. Thanks
