Grandson Wally went with Contender team on striper shootout yesterday, way up the Eastern Shore of VA. Major problems with leaders breaking off on big fish, but even worse, they blew a lower unit on one of the two Yamaha 350s on the way home. These are apparently some "prototype" engines not currently on the market. When they got home, they found both lower units had destroyed prop shaft seals and were full of nice, clear saltwater. Team Leader took boat to Maryland today to get warranty lower units and they hope to salvage the third day of the tournament tomorrow. Other Contender boat is current leader in the tourney using eels.
