oil filter

does anyone use aftermarket oil filters (sierra) on their motor??
i run yamahas and @ 25 bucks a piece and the motors are out of warranty
is there really a difference????

I have the same question.

Someone, somewhere mentioned that a Fram Toyota filter would fit on there. I forgot where I saw it, maybe THT. If that Is the case, I would go with the Fram or comparable for about $5. Even if you changed it out twice a season it would still be cheaper. Got to look into it more.

Anyone verify this?????

Wow... After seeing both filters cut apart, if it were me I'd pick the Yamaha branded filter.
To my eyes, it has the better filter media of the two filters that were compared.

the cut away is impressive, but why is their filter that way?whats the difference between a car motor and a boat motor(besides the obvious)?I've changes my filtes 5-6x in three seasons my motors have under 100 hrs. thats $300+ in filters.
