Hello all,

Wondering what others have done to provide shade for the aft decks on the pilot houses. Got some ideas with maybe some sun shade material strung from the rocket launcher aft to some posts in rear rod holders.

Maybe someone’s got something cool they can share! I’m running a 2520.

Thanks
Tom

I used a couple of metal closet rods that I put eye bolts through the top of and notched the bottom. This allows me to tension the awning for windy conditions. It goes over top of the rocket launcher and has reinforcement there. That gives it a little more height. My friend who has a 2120 uses the NESO shade from amazon and a couple of adjustable boat hooks.

Hello,
these are not removable, but they are great for us! 23ft on trailer and 25 in the water.
there is a 20 year time difference in those two pictures.

The poles are the expensive piece, naturally. I had two solid glass fishing rods on which I installed cheap roller tips, removed guides and painted. I also used a lightweight ripstop nylon tarp (gosh I don't remember it being this much$$$):

The real key is the piece of PVC up front. Drill holes that correspond to the tarp and lace the tarp on like a T-top. Then install another line that loops over several rod holders, with ends secured to roof grab rails. Also, I route lines down in the rear to the rear eyes and cleats so there is a net downward push on the road holders vs a levering effect. Everything is rolled up or installed with two people in 3 minutes. Looks pretty cool, and was able to use the heavy glass rods.

Had this custom made in St. Pete FL. Cost ~$1K. Completely removes in about 30 seconds (for fishing trips).

I had this thread bookmarked for ideas on a sunshade:

And this guy wins for most professional design, but I can't say it's worth the effort:

And the simplest method to just tie a shade to a couple poles in the back rod holders:

I had a BocaShade ( https://www.bocashade.com/) on my 2320 pilot boat- and loved it. They had brackets that used the factory top rails to secure to. Worked beautifully. Well made.

Truth be told- some of the other solutions here are far more economical ( and have more effective coverage).

yes you can run with it up, but it does flap alot depending on winds..... I do it for short distance, any long run, I take it down.
I’m going to buy this now, i have the sports cabin 25.5 foot. I measured the deck and it’s about 11.5X8.5 on the inside, I would like it semi tight but cover as much as possible. What size did you get? I’m thinking the 10X13, would be decent, or maybe the 15 foot
