I want to use my mfd in my house to play with all the menus, I don't want to bring a battery in doors so what are my options. I have a 12v charger with 2-4-6 amp chg rate or should I get a 120v ac to 12 dc converter? My unit says 27 watt at 10vdc 1.8A current draw max2.3 @12v. The converter is what I was thinking but what kind 60w be okay give me some advice. I live in Ohio and the boat is not in a heated area so installing it in the cold is not what I want to do. The unit is a Garmin 7608xsv I have a up date to install.
thanks Walt

It's much safer to use a 120VAC-12VDC converter or a 12V battery jump starter unit. The battery charger is not regulated and may damage your nice Garmin MFD. You can also make a 12V adapter cable and plug it into your car cigarette lighter socket. Just make sure that you have a proper fuse as protection.
