Our 2320 has a 2000 225 Merc EFI at best cruise 4200 rpm at 1.67MPG. It likes oil and gas but runs good. Any of you have newer motors with better MPG? Using the boat for 500-600 gallons of gas per year, can I justify $13,000 for a new 4 stroke? If anyone has a 2320 with a 4 stroke, please post your cruise MPG. Thanks Randy

Not a 23, but I have a 2520 with the F225, and have averaged (calculated from miles driven and total fuel used) 2.6MPG over my last two trips, cruise for me is actually high, around 4600-4800. If I run lower than that I seem to be dragging the hull through the water, but even at WOT I'm over 2mpg. At 4600 or so it seems to pop up fully on plane and my mpg spikes. I have a F210 fuel flow meter and with the GPS I can calculate my MPG at any RPM to find the sweet spot.

If you were to get 2.5 mpg on the new motor, you would have increased your fuel efficiency by 49%. If you burned 600 gallons per year, you would now be burning 49% less fuel. At $5.25 a gallon, you would save about $1500 a year.

The math doesn't make sense at current prices but what the heck, owning a boat doesn't make sense either :D :D
