Repower

I have a 96' 2320 SC. Right now i have a 97' 225 SS2 EFI. Looking to repower this winter. Right now im thinking on a yamaha 250. It adds about 60 pounds compared to my motor now (cut transom). Has anyone ever downsized to a 200? Is 250 the way to go? Just wondering others inputs who have repowered or other things to think about. Thanks!

I re-powered my '97 2520 SC cut transom last year. Went from a Mercury 225 EFI 2 stroke to a 300 Mercury V8 4 Stroke. It added around 48 pounds to the rear, but you would never know it. Any weight gain was more than offset by the increase in fuel economy and power.
I'm not sure what the max hp rating is for your year 2320, but if it were me I wouldn't downsize.
