Went out Saturday (Jan 12) for some rockfishing in Mexican waters. Left Mission Bay in San Diego at about 0700. Quick stop for live bait (sardines) and headed to the "loading zone." 6 foot swells clearing the breakwater then a 25 minute jaunt on relatively calmer seas and dropped the lines in 350 feet of water. Watched for pinnacles on the fishfinder and there the fish were. Fished for about 5 hours, 17 keepers of a mixed bag of rockfish. The largest was a 7 lb. Ling Cod. Ugly fish but great eating. Nothing overly huge but great day on the water, air temp 70. Parker ran perfect.

Nice boat and nice catch. Those rock fish look like a stretched grouper. Bet they are tasty. Fish tacos must be a W coast thing. Sound interesting though.

Jim,
As popular as fish tacos are out here I thought they had caught on elsewhere. Any fresh mild white fish will do. Cod is one of the best. Randy.

Now that looked like a nice day of fishing on the water, and very nice pictures!!!Good Job!!!

What are those reddish colored fish in the last image? They look like Vermillion or the dang Yelloweye's.
