rusted axles

I own an EZ-Loader tandem trailer that has torsion axles. Although they appear to be working fine the torsion bars are severely rusted. Any recommendations on when or if they should be replaced. Thank you.

Beat it with a hammer a few good times. See how much rust falls out. If you are that concerned with it take it to a trailer place and have them look at it. At that point you will feel at ease having a pro look at it.
