scanstrut mount PT2004

installing the garmin fantom 18 radar on my parker 2520 and wanted some options on mounts?
I like the scanstrut 6'' mount #PT2004 BUT I want to hide the 2 cables down the middle of the mount instead of routing them in through the back in that grommet. Anybody drilled a hole in the top base to run cables down the middle of mount so no cables are exposed?

Why wouldn't you use a Battle Wagon mount as has been posted in the past?

Powdercoated Srruts look like Crap after a couple of years when the Powdercoating is flaking off of them.
