We try to follow the no throw stuff overboard policy so I wanted a small trash can that: did not smell, fit behind my captain's seat, had a flat top, was foot operated, resisted corrosion, and did not cost an arm and a leg.
Then I found one that exceeded my expectations as it is rectangular with the foot pedal on the short side and it has some invisibility characteristics and it uses the small plastic bags from the store by clips holding the bag handles plus it met all my other criteria.
