After looking at the location options for my speakers, I chose the bottom of the plastic strips covering the wiring on the Alaskan Bulkhead.. This plastic is weird to cut. It healed itself before I could get the saber saw out of the cut. Looks like it melts and hardens quickly. I finally cut it and kept pressure on the center of the hole I was cutting and it sort of oozed out.
The space behind the plastic acts some like a sound box. Mounted them port & starboard same way with just screws into the plastic. I did use short screws with trimmed ends so no cuts on hands reaching back up there.
My marine (waterproof & non-electrical interference) speakers are not super whoopie so the magnets easily fit behind the plastic with room to spare as the plastic is further from the bulkheard at the lower end of the plastic strip.
