How about you Northeast guys post some pics of your spring fluke catches this week. I'm heading to the north shore of LI Sunday and Monday. I'll have the camera ready. Tight lines to all.

I will also be heading out Monday. We'll be out on the western end. Hopefully I will have some pics. to post...

Spent the day fluking on the South shore of L.I., NY- Tally for day 1 keeper fluke 22". Fished inside and outside.

We went ended up fishing for stripers. After talking to the guy's in the bait store and learning that the fluke were not yet in the western sound we decided to just go for stripers and blues. They are thinking 2 to 3 more weeks until the fluke arrive. Untill then Blues and stripers.

We fished Sunday the 16th and Monday limiting out both days on the North Shore of LI and returned many 21-22" fish to fight another day. I got an 8.15lb. very fat fish Sunday around noon. Tons of sand eels. My boat was covered with them. I may try it again late in the week.

jealous of you LI sound guys... I may have to visit the Osprey IV in port jeff to see if I can grab some early season doormats.

Super nice flatties. When y'all jig for them do you use bait? I use a Chesapeake Bay Sandwich consisting of 2 strips of baitfish (spot usually) with a frozen minnow in between hooked onto my bucktail.

We went out Thursday and Friday at 5am to catch the outgoing tide with the west wind to get the good drift. We were catching right away Thursday and Tony got a 6lb. 11oz. fat fluke. We limited and headed home when we lost the drift around noon. Friday I got a 5 pounder on the first drift but had to work hard for the next one. Fished both sides of the tide on Friday. Bucktails w/squid and killies outfished the plain bait rigs.

Well, FOGGY was an understatement !!!
Visibility ZERO to 200 yards!!!

Wind 5 to 10 SW

Started out of MTK harbor at 645 am ....TIDES were all day outgoing all morning , incoming at 1230 ish But it camr lateer around 130 ish

Morning bite FLUKE !!! 5 fish all over 5.5 lbs....2 over 7.5#

the three of us almost limited but 9 am .....piddeled aroiund as tide waned early slack lasted well passed noon , we picked a few and took a short nap, lol !!!

Went to south side and tried the FRISBIES for signs of sea bees but NADA!!!

Decided to check the tide at the Elbow and see if we were marking any fish.......

EMIRIL style BAM !!! POW !!! BASS EVERYWHERE !!!! top water bottom , thick as thieves !!! 28 to 34 " average 8 to 12 # but we had 16 drifts with all 3 of us managing AT LEAST one keeper a drift we threw back over 44 fish !!!!!
BAM POW

5/23/10

What a difference a day makes
lol!!!!

Shocking FOG!!!
E wind/ NE 5 to 8 mph

Left later as tide moves ..... tried fluke what a joke a million shorts in same spot but we had a SUPRISE !!! no fluke to speak of but the missing customer from yesterday showed up in force !!!

3-4 lb SEA BEES on squid !!! NICE ......!!!

we had a 21" and 23" seabass.... and 5 other 14 to 18" .....THANK MTK!!!!

so we killed time waited out slack , lunch and a nap!!! AGAIN and then hit the point >>>>>

U think we could have a repeat BASS performance .......in the same spot at the same time .....

So i set up on the same drift line at the same spot in the slot that i always try 4 at the top of the tides and

BAM !!!! POW !!!

GOTTA LOVE MTK
