Anyone know of a good tool to reach out over the outboards to pick at fishing line wrapped on a prop? Have a 2820 w/twin 250's off Mass. Coast. In pitching seas on my own, tough to do this! I made a reaching tool out of 1" hickory dowel w/hook on one end and ring on the other. Helps to reach the raw water shutoff in the bilge. Tough to finesse braid around the prop though....

my own experience that also includes many a chum pot rope wrapped up ….

I keep a Victroniox 3" serrated blade knife just to be used for this sole purpose and nothing else ( read very sharp)
One roll of Gorilla tape 1" heavy duty black type
6 foot deck brush handle

when a fishing guest wraps his line or when I run off with my chum pot attached…

I get out the knife, tape it to my deck brush handle and one or two cuts and we are all set.
I have tried the boat hook method braid is impossible to pick free or break but cutting the line works best and easy when in the pitch and fit of a sea.
