I have a 1991 yamaha 250 on my 2510 Parker... 6 cyl with 6 carbs... She been running bad all summer between 4600 and 5300 rpms... she wont hold a steady rmp almost like she been starved for gas. Doesn't reach full rpm... Sometimes she runs great... no issues at all. This summer I've replaced fule lines and new primer ball (I didn't replace the line form the ball to the motor). I also installed a new racor parker filter and bracket as well as the filter on the motor. I tried running Dunk's decarb procedure with Sea Foam and replaced all the plugs. Last week I ran her on a 6gal aux tank.. all with no luck... still giving me issues.

I had a local Yamaha guy give it a run and she ran fine for him ( as posted above, sometimes she runs perfect). He did say she needs new reeds as the motor vibrates quite a bit at idle. The vibration has never bothered me. He didn't quote me a price to replace the reeds.. he just said it's a few grand...?

So need opnions on what to do next... compression is good and starts on the first turn of the key all summer long - cold or hot...
Anyone have experience replacing reeds? What should I expect price wise? Should I also consider rebuiling the carbs ?

A new motor is out of the question for the next year or two.
