any tips on either the color to order from a source like Jamestown or a location to get factory standard
All I have found is 8oz glass bottle of waxed
Does not look like I can go factory direct. If possible that is preferred.

No Why cant waxed gel coat be used?

Unwaxed is more for spraying in a mold before doing a layup of glass on top of it.

Gelcote does not cure on a surface exposed to air. This allows subsequent layers to bond without surface prep.

Stack of techniques that this is very helpful for.

Wax can be added ( additive 10 or Modifier C ) as a form of styrene monomer with wax melted in to it.
You can also use a waxed paper cup, just get aggresive when mixing.
for those looking for an unwax hard surface PVA can be sprayed over top.
