washdown pump replacement/ 2004 XL

My washdown pump is shot and I'm asking if any of you found a better place for it and if you replaced it with the same pump or upgraded to something else. It lasted 5-6 seasons before totally rotting out. Kind of a tough spot they put it.

I replaced mine with a bait blaster but left it in the same location if that helps.

PITA to get to but well protected.
