Went out to Stellwagen on Sunday (along with every other boat in the Boston metro area) to chase tuna around. Started at the NW corner at sunup. We could at one point count over 60 boats within view, although visibility was extraordinary.

Lots of fish on the sonar, but no surface action. Sprinted south a bit to look around. Nothing worth staying for. Decided "in for a penny, in for a pound" and took off the additional 12 miles or so to Tillies. At least there was not as much weed in the water and we had the place to ourselves! but, alas, no signs of fish. Went north about 5 miles or so. Nothing.

Turned back toward Tillies and went a bit west, toward Cape Ann. Bingo! Birds and splashes that looked like somebody was dropping VW's from the sky. Tried casting, but they weren't taking. Set up a troll and called a couple of buddies on the VHF to come up from the south.

Fish were busting all around us, but not taking the sluggos or the deep divers we had out. Finally, one of the sluggo reels goes off. Twenty five minutes later we have a nice BFT on board. This is the only (bad) pic we took of it.

Turns out, with all the boats out on Sunday, only a few fish were taken. We felt pretty lucky, but realized that we worked darn hard for that luck!

Try using a kite.

Great job by the way making something happen.
