I have the 1242xsv (also with the buttons as recommended by Warthog) and garmin GT50 thru hull transducer as I'm always in shallower water. Recently did the install myself with some guidance from Warthog. So far very happy with the setup - 1242 is very nice. Had garmin equipment on a...
Thanks Gsully - I saw one on boats.net for about $200, worth a try. Anything I need to watch out for? Currently have 17P x 14 1/4 which I think comes standard with the boat. New to this subject. Would new prop also help plane at a lower speed / rpm? Not looking for high end speed.
Thanks Blubby - I will give it a shot - added plus about trolling and hitting crap - makes sense. Any suggestions for a good on line prop store where I can order one? There's a prop place by me but he just does repairs.
And nice boat! I like the T-Top, I'm looking to add one this fall.
Thanks to all for the advice - as suggested, I've been a little too tentative on the throttle. Just needed to be a little more aggressive with the throttle - don't need to nail it though - just a little more aggressive. And don't need my trim tabs to get on plane and prop is fine for now...
Looking to upgrade my existing prop on my 2015 21SE with Yamaha 150. Per previous post, having some difficulty getting on plane at times. I was told the prop might need some work when I purchased the boat recently. Was wondering what others were using - mine is Yamaha reliance series 17 141/4...
Thanks regnitteo and leohayday for the info - very helpful. I am leaning towards the new prop as a first step. There were some issues pointed out with the one on there anyway - so might be a good time to pitch down too - speed is definitely not my priority . Thanks again!
Yes I have - limited, but everything seems to be working OK - including side scan. Need more time on the water to learn how to fully use it but so far pretty impressive. i will keep an eye out to see if I am losing bottom - once I perfect my planing skills on a on consistent basis : ) - but...
Hey Warthog - thanks for the help. I did manage to screw up one fairing block (used wrong blade on table saw - had to order another for $60), but otherwise install went OK - wouldn't consider it easy. There was really only one location to install right up against the last bulk head (see first...
Thanks Warthog - boat came with a full tank and only had her out a few times, but good to know - don't need that much gas especially for my intended use. And yes operator needs more practice.
BTW - thanks for the previous advice on the Garmin GT50 (with 1242xsv) worked out well- reminds me I...
Thanks Windknotnc - per other posts I'm sure the operator has a lot to do with it (and will try their suggestions), but below is a picture of my prop - I did see 17-M 14 1/4 stamped on the prop - assuming that means a 17 pitch, 14 1/4 inch prop. Just doing a couple of searches and it seem like...
