Hi guys really thinking of trying to get into a Parker. Love the 2510xld but can’t find any in my price range. I’m downsizing from a 35 hardchine Downeast with twin diesels so I know I’m in for a change. I hear story’s of the mv pounding. I really want to find a DV but again not many out here in my range.

Questions are I looked at a 2002 2520xl 225 ox66 bracket.

Is this the 16 degree deadrise ?
Can I expect a rough rough ride or is it manageable compaired to the 14 degree hull.
Will the 225 push her along well enough with a crew of 5 ?

Biggest question anyone see any cracks like this coming from the scupper drop ? Rest of the floor and hull seems good with no signs of soft spots or any other probelems ?

Thanks in advance

the picture of the crack will not upload the file is to big but to describe it it runs off the corner where the recess is for the water to pool for the scupper drains. it runs inward towards the middle of the cockpit about 5-6 inches

Are you the guy that posted on Parker FB page fishing out of Montauk? If so, this is just my $.02.
I've owned, since new, a 1999 2520 with an OX66 225. I did re-power this year though, but ran that hull and motor for 20 seasons in S Jersey.
Granted, mine is a 14 degree mod but will 2 degrees make a difference? You won't be happy with that hull fishing out of Montauk, especially with 5 guys and 225hp. I didn't have 5 guys often, but when I did, she was a dog out of the hole. I went to college in Southampton and got to know Capt Mark out of Montauk and fished with him for maybe 15 years so I know what Montauk can bring. We always went on his 39' BHM but I know he sold that and was taking small charters out on a 2510 xld with twin 150's I believe. He would only take 3 guys on that boat if I remember correctly. Any chance you can sea trial a mod v on a non-flat day out there? I'd want the deep v out there and a 300 hp. I know they are hard to find, but I believe waiting for one is the better decision than buying something you won't be happy with. Do you plan on making some trips to Block and/or Fisher's or staying more locally around the point? If you see Capt. Mark around the docks, pick his brain on the 2510 xld he runs, he will give you the dirt, both good and bad.

Yes that’s me. I know it will be big enough for 1-4 passenger charters. As for the ride i think you are right the DV hull is probably the direction I need to go. The 2510 from what I understand will ride a little better hen the 2520 due to the helm being a little further back . Hopefully I can find something.

I owned a 2520 for 5 years with 14 degree and a 2004XL 16 degree for 14 seasons, w/ 225 OX66 and 225 F stroke. The 16 degree hull is still a mod v and will pound in a tight chop in head seas. You have to slow it way down and trim it in rough seas. The 225 is under powered IMO for the heavy XL especially with 4 on board. Parker doesn't put 225s on them anymore. 250s and 300s are the norm now. I used my XL in LIS and it was great most of the time but for Montauk I'd go DV. I'm just guessing but the crack may just be gelcoat. I've got one already by the anchor locker in a new last year 2018 23 SE.

It'll be a Pig. Needs more power. Think 300Hp. Just cause ya got it.....Doesn't mean you have to use it.....But if ya need it and don't have it....Your screwed.

The 300 will get better fuel mileage.....Why? Because you will not be running the stem winding Crap out of it like you will the 225.

I had a 2520XL and it would beat you to death in any kind of rough water, however it was a very stable fishing platform. As far as cracks in the deck....a very common occurrence. I had mine repaired twice. First time the dealer ground out the crack and patched. Second time, I had a fiberglass specialist grind out the cracks and redo the whole deck....no problems after that was done.

decided not to pursue the 2520xl

Found a 2005 2510xld with a single f250. I know she wont be a speed demon with the single 250. I am ok with this. 440 hours no corrosion on a scope. Bay test this week.
