Thought I would share what I found on my boat today with you all. While in the rear bilge trying to make sense of all the battery wiring, I noticed a negative buss bar tucked way up in the starboard rear corner wall of the bilge. I had to stick my head way in and up to see it. You can see where it was in the 1st pic before I cleaned it. The 2nd pic shows what it looked like. These grounds are for the 2 bilge pumps, washdown, and bait pumps. This explains why the washdown wasn't working properly during sea trial!
Next time your in there, be sure to check it. There was no protection on the terminals that I could find evidence of, and looks like it was exposed to salt spray which led to its demise.

My rear buss bar was completely removed when I purchased my vessel. I installed a new one as well

I did the same as part of a major redo and EQ add project. I moved it a little also to the transom side. Got rid of the crap automotive ends on the wire connectors. Hate those. I was also trying to reduce the lugs on my start battery down to no more than 3 per ABYC. I think my new bus is a 250A Blue Seas.

It sure was. I used a cabin cushion and laid it on the deck which helped. I spent a lot of time in there adding, strainer, pump, house battery, under water lights and a battery charger. Never want to spend that much time in the hole again, lol.

I redid most of the wiring on when I purchased it last year. I intend to relocate the batteries amidship this season as well so most likely I’ll be redoing most of what I did last year [emoji35]

You got a lot done last year though. Boats looking good :D 8)

One way to keep corrosion at bay is to give those exposed connections a shot of Corrosion X.

As for battery connections, consider this:
