My mechanic reccomends the job get done every other season?? I do put a good 100 hrs a season on the motor. The last time the job cost about $350.
I am mechanicly inclined and think I could handle this.
1. Has anyone done their own (parts cost)?
2. How hard is it (time)?
3. Any special tools needed?
4 Are there any "How To Books" on this?
Thanks for any help. Ken

Hi Ken,

I have the same motor (and boat).
I tackled those jobs last year for the first time with
much help from guys on here. It's a piece of cake. I forget what the parts cost (could find out for ya) but Andy over at SIM could get you an estimate invoice with everything you'll need. His prices are reasonable also. Ever been over on THT? There is a "pictorial" over there on a F200 water pump replacement. You can print it out as it is basically the same.

The t-stats are even easier, do you have a manual? Lastly, you should also do the PCV valve while you are in there which is easy but would be easier with 2 guys as 4 hands seemed to work out better for me.

SIM is Shipyard Island Marine and the person to speak with is Andy Munao.
Tell him that you heard about him on ClassicParker.

Also... when you do the job, don't forget the poppit valve(s).
Andy can explain why.
